UC to begin reverifying the benefits eligibility of some family members in June

If you are enrolled in UC-sponsored health plans and you cover a spouse, domestic partner, grandchild or legal ward under your benefits, Secova, Inc., may contact you in the next few weeks as part of the Family Member Eligibility Recertification project. Verification began in April for approximately 44,000 staff and faculty members and will commence in June for a random selection of 5,000 retirees.

What happens next

In mid-May, Secova (a firm with more than 24 years of experience in administering family member eligibility) will send an email to selected retirees to begin the recertification process electronically. Additionally, selected Retirees will receive a Mail Verification Packet in early June which will include a cover letter introducing Secova as well as detailed instructions for completing all aspects of the process. The required form and documentation must be returned to Secova by July 28, 2017. If you are selected to participate in the reverification process and have questions, please contact Secova at the number which will be provided in your packet. If you do not receive an email or a mail verification packet you do not need to do anything as part of the process.

Volunteer Opportunity: Basic Sewing Skills Needed - UC Davis Children's Hospital Quilting Project

Each year the spouse of one of our wonderful Health System retirees makes dozens (if not hundreds) of quilts for children who are hospitalized at the UC Davis Children's Hospital. The quilts wrap the children in a warm, soft blanket and provide something special for them to take home once they are discharged. This project has been a long time passion for quilter Carol Frank. She is looking for assistance in cutting and sewing 9" squares (only the most basic/modest sewing skills are needed). Carol can provide the fabric, instruction and is also happy to pick up and drop off in the Davis/Sacramento area. If you are interested in assisting Carol with her efforts, please contact her at the following email address: howardandcarolfrank@gmail.com for more information.
